OUR SERVICES
Treatments - What to Expect
When you arrive for your first Acupuncture treatment, I ask that you arrive 15 minutes early in order to fill out the required intake forms. Please make sure to wear or bring loose fitting clothing (shorts and tank top are fine). After your intake forms are filled out, we begin the intake process where I will take a look at your tongue and check your pulses (Chinese Medicine diagnosis is based on your body's reflection of itself in your tongue and pulse quality). We begin treatment by inserting thin, sterile, single use stainless steel needles into specific Acupuncture points.
Depending on your condition, we may also use moxibustion, which is used to warm, clear a channel and reduce inflammation, and cupping, which uses glass cups as suction on the skin in order to bring stagnant blood to the surface and remove toxins. After a cupping treatment, it is recommended that you not shower for 24 hours and keep the area covered and protected from wind, cold and rain. An Acupuncture treatment typically lasts 1 hour and 15 minutes.

Sound Meditation
Sound Baths incorporate crystal bowls, metal bowls, gong and chimes. Sound therapy can calm the sympathetic nervous system. Each note played connects to a different part of the body. During Sound Baths the vibrations can be felt in the body inducing a relaxation response. Sound Baths are offered the 2nd Sunday of every month from 3pm-4pm at Vastu Health Center. These Sounds Baths are given to contribute to the joy and peace of the community. Donations are accepted.

Happy Clients
I had been a labor and delivery nurse for 5 years when I became pregnant. About twelve weeks into my pregnancy I started to experience intense sciatic pain. This was a major challenge to my performance as a nurse, since my job requires so much walking and standing during twelve-hour shifts. I talked to some of the doctors at work and they all said the same thing. "You're out of luck. You can't take NSAIDS during pregnancy, so get used to it. So I resigned myself to having the kind of pregnancy where I would have to use the motorized carts at the supermarket, suffering through debilitating pain every day. Then one day I ran into Nicole at the yoga studio we both frequent, and she suggested acupuncture as a solution. So I ran it by my midwives and they assured me that it was totally safe during pregnancy. I started receiving acupuncture from Nicole and after the fourth week of treatment I was pain free! I continued receiving acupuncture every week throughout my pregnancy to help support the changes my body was going through, and to relieve the sciatic pain that would creep up after three shifts in a row. I have so much gratitude for Nicole for the emotional and physical support and healing that she provided for me as I grew my beautiful daughter!

"It has been said, 'There is a time and a place for everything.' The time started September 2015 and the place was Positive Life Acupuncture, and the everything is mind, body and spirit. I've been wanting to write this for awhile, today during my treatment I felt the 'everything' again and want to say THANK YOU from all of my being for being who you are. You have helped my stress, my nicotine cravings, my allergies, my back pain...God blessed me when he put you in my life."
-Loretta Breedveld
Why did I wait? After conventional shoulder treatments didn't work for my shoulder pain, I decided to go for acupuncture. Meeting with Nicole was a pleasant experience. I went in a little afraid of needles but my fear was put aside by Nicole's gentle touch and knowledge of her craft. Long story short...I should have never waited for this to be my last resort, it should have been my first. After the second session, the pain subsided by 75%, by the fourth, it was almost totally gone. I have never been able to lift my arms high until now. Have gone back several more times for different issues, and have been extremely satisfied with the results.

After years of suffering with chronic insomnia, sleep deprivation lead me to a dependency on a prescription sleep aid nightly. Desperate to get off this medication due to recent disturbing side effects, I researched Acupuncture and found Nicole. After just four treatments, I actually SLEPT and like a baby. I'm now receiving the necessary and restorative benefits of SLEEP! Thank you Nicole, and sweet dreams.
